Developed by VersaMe Inc., the Starling is a wearable word-counter for babies that tracks parental engagement in order to boost children's brain development
As an intern for VersaMe in the summer of 2016, I was given the project of designing a robust mechanical attachment for the Starling such that it would be easy for parents to clip on but hard for children to remove
After two months of intensive user research, rapid prototyping and iteration, I went from a bulky magnet-based attachment (blue) to a simple and elegant accessory (white) that is held in place through friction
The final design was so effective that I continued working with VersaMe after my internship to refine it for implementation
